I am brand new to the world of cocktail, my goal is to try out all the well known cocktails and determine what I love. I ordered the Home Bartender Starter Kit with Old Fashioned glass set of 4.
After doing a few hour of research on amazon to get all the starter tools, I discovered this site, which have really good review and seems to have higher quality consistency when compared to Amazon. The starter kit is an amazing deal, even with a 17$ shipping, it is better quality and only 10$ more than buying separately on Amazon.
What I regretted was I should’ve gotten a few more items to complete my basic bar set up and also get free shipping (100$+). I would recommend watching his youtube video series first before buying, it really help you learn the basics and know what you need for your goals. Here are my recommendations, and what I am planning to buy on my next order:
– Ice cube trays: Using fridge’s odd shaped ice cubes just doesn’t feel right. Would recommend the Tovolo Perfect Ice. I also got the Sphere Ice mold, but honestly is a little too big for a old fashioned glass.
– 2.5″ Tea Strainer: was soldout when i got it, but good for double straining
– Cocktail Glassware: Classy Coupe Glass or Martini Glass, probably going to get the Coupe
– Tall Glassware: Chicago High Ball or Collins glass, probably going to get the High Balls
– Low Glassware: I got the old fashioned glass
– Maraschino Cherries: sold out
– Angostura Bitters, any Orange Bitters, and Peychaud’s Bitters: I bought all these later, but might as well buy it together
– Garnish Picks: was soldout

I’m very happy with my Islander cocktail kit. The Tiki mugs are really great. The Cocktail & Son’s Oleo Saccharum is fantastic and I love the Collins recipe on the bottle. I absolutely love the Scrappy’s Cardamom bitters. The kit comes with a recipe designed by Jennifer that I really like a lot, thanks for creating that Jenn. The Orgeat was a little sweet for me at first but the Main Tai is way better that the tourist Mai tai I had in Hawaii.
